Inspired Holistic Communication Therapy

(Formerly Ready Set Talk Speech-Language Therapy)

Tracy Klein, MPH, M.A., CCC-SLP, FMCHC

I am passionate about helping clients achieve confidence in their communication skills which impacts every aspect of their lives. I achieve this by providing integrative therapy with a focus on identifying the root cause of a client’s communication challenges and unlocking their potential. I work with adults and children. The adults I work with are high-functioning professionals looking to improve their communication skills in the work world.

In my pediatric practice, I work with children with speech and language difficulties and also address their underlying root causes (gut, allergy, inflammatory, etc) that impact their ability to learn naturally. Children with ADHD, Autism, and other cognitive challenges benefit from a holistic view that includes behavioral changes to support their thinking and learning. By looking at the whole child and integrating other specialists, I support improving the child’s communication skills and the health behaviors that may need addressing through coaching. I provide high quality, comprehensive, client-centered evaluations and treatment.

I received a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University in Psychology and Public Health and a second Master of Arts degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from the University of Akron. In addition, I hold a certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBHWC). I have many hours of continuing education in the areas of pediatric speech and language disorders including: PROMPT, DIR Floortime, Social Thinking, myofunctional therapy and pediatric feeding disorders. I am professionally licensed by the State of Colorado and certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). My 15 years of experience encompasses adult corporate clients, pediatric hospital-based, outpatient clinic, private schools, early intervention and private practice. Currently, I serve children and their families in early intervention, private schools, and the community.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE FAQs

What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is a method of therapy conducted over a video platform. Before COVID, this had become a popular option to provide therapy to clients who were unable to come into the office due to either distance or other extenuating circumstances. During the COVID times, teletherapy is preferable method because we do not need masks, which is a more effective method of working on communication skills. Teletherapy also allows you to schedule appointments when it is most convenient for you, since there is no commute to an office involved.

Studies have shown that the efficacy and benefits of online therapy are the same as those of in-person therapy. I have over a year of online therapy experience and training using this model. Often, teletherapy is actually preferable for clients, as they can focus on their speech from the comfort and safety of their own home.

How does teletherapy work?

Every online session involves direct online services using a HIPAA-compliant video platform. All you need in order to access therapy is a computer or tablet with a web-based browser and microphone. Any materials and activities will be provided electronically.

If live in the Denver Tech Center area, do you offer any in-person sessions?

For clients who live in the Denver Tech Center area, I do offer in-person sessions.  During the COVID times, these are limited to outdoor visits only (weather permitting) and using a hybrid model of online as well so that we can meet without the masks.  Whenever necessary, a teletherapy session will be set up if an in-person session is not possible.

How do you help coach families?

Over the years I have found the only way to solve a child’s speech and language difficulties is to look at the whole child There is often a root causes at the heart of the speech and language difficulties a child encounter—sometimes more obvious than at other times, such as with a diagnosis of autism or prematurity. Behavioral and lifestyle factors typically play a critical role. I often use the metaphor of a tree. The branches and leaves are the speech and language a child uses to communicate, yet if the roots and trunk are not carrying the nutrients to the leaves and branches, they will not flourish. By digging deeper and working with a team approach, I support families to create a path to address the behavioral/lifestyle factors while we also work on the skill development of the speech and language challenges. Families often want to have their children eat a more diversified diet, sleep better, tantrum less, etc but they are unsure how to get there. This hybrid approach is often much more effective.

In addition to integrating coaching, I offer a hybrid model for families needing extra support of 3:1 therapy sessions to coaching sessions who want deeper coaching support. Often times, parents also need support to balance the challenges of having a child with needs and all the other priorities. Coaching around stress management and self-care is often a piece of the puzzle. I offer extended coaching once therapy is completed for families wanting additional support.

Are there any additional resources I can use to help my child with communication?

Yes, there are a few resources I would recommend, which I have linked below:
